No motorcycle license required! All you need is a valid driver’s license. The Slingshot is classified as an Auto-Cycle, so no special license is needed in Alabama.
Is a helmet required to rent a Slingshot?
Yes. Alabama is one of 19 states with a universal helmet law, which requires anyone riding or operating an autocycle or motorcycle to wear protective headgear. One helmet is included in the rental price. Any additional passengers can rent a helmet for an additional $15 per rental. (Multiple day rentals are only one $15 rental fee)
Do I need to know how to drive a manual transmission to drive a Slingshot?
No. We offer automatic transmission at Birmingham Slingshot Rentals. We think that driving a slingshot is a truly unique experience that we want all drivers to experience!
How many miles can I go without being charge extra?
300 free miles , 69 cents each additional mile.
Do I need to fill the gas tank up when returning the Slingshot?
Yes. Please fill using only Premium unleaded (93) as these are fine-tuned machines that provide over 200 horsepower, and we don’t want to see that degraded by low grade fuels. We rent every rental with a full tank of gas.
What are your rental requirements? How does this insurance work?
Our Slingshots are available to renters 25 and older. All renters are required to use our insurance company. Insurance costs are $45 per daily rental rates. All renters are required to sign our liability waiver and rental agreement. Also, a $500 security deposit hold is required to take the Slingshot out. When the slingshot is brought back without damage it will be refunded.
Do you offer rentals for a couple of hours?
Yes. We offer 2-hour rentals for photo sessions or delivered to your special event. For this rental, the slingshot is driven to your location, and we wait until the session is over. We also offer 5-hour and 24-hour rentals to drive.

Do you have a cancellation policy?
In the event of weather cancellations, rentals can be rescheduled without fee. A cancellation within 48 hours will result in 50%forfeiture of the rental price. A cancellation less than 24 hours will result in 100%of the rental price. In all cases, the security deposit will be returned.
When should I arrive to pick up my rental?
We suggest arriving within 10 mins of your reservation to finalize paperwork, waivers, and insurance information. We also provide tips and a short tutorial regarding proper demonstration of the vehicle for optimal enjoyment of your rental. Call us if you know that you will be running late! This will help us better meet your needs.
Can I leave the state of Alabama?
No. We currently require that the vehicle stays in Alabama. We are working with our insurance agency to build an additional policy to allow for this option. Please check back periodically.
What happens if there is damage when I return the vehicle?
We come across a lot of minor scuffs and scrapes on our cars when they go out on rentals – sometimes customers scrape a wheel, scratch a front bumper or bubble a tire. These repairs are quick and relatively inexpensive to make and are billed from the security deposit to minimize the amount of time the vehicle is off the road. Once your invoice has been settled, you can of course make a claim to your insurance company to be reimbursed for any charges.
Why do I have to leave a security deposit?
Due to the extremely high cost of the vehicles, we offer, it is our policy to take a refundable security deposit for all our rentals. Rest assured, this is refunded in full once the vehicle has been returned to us and thoroughly inspected. If there are any additional charges or minor damages, they are billed from your deposit and the balance is refunded back onto your credit card.
Can I pay with cash?
Cash is not being accepted at this time. If you do not want to pay via credit card/ debit card, we will provide you our PayPal info as an alternative.
